RGLAX PHARMARglax Coat

AQ-Z Wb

Aqueous film coat, white or colour

Water base ready-mix film coat supplied white or in your agreed shade.

Tablets finished with an Rglax Coat film coating grade

Application

General purpose aqueous film coating for immediate release tablets. It is dispersed in purified water and applied as a white or coloured film coat, giving a smooth, glossy surface with well defined logo definition.

How it runs

Dispersed in purified water and sprayed onto a warmed bed. On a 12 inch conventional pan the charge is small and the pan turns fast, so spray rate is the limiting factor. On a 36 or 48 inch auto coater the charge is large and pan speed drops, so inlet temperature and air volume carry the drying instead. Aqueous grades run the hotter of the two bands, around 35 to 40 degrees at the bed against a 75 to 80 degree inlet. Build-up is taken to the point where the core no longer shows and logo definition stays clean.

Build-up and solids are fixed at trial.

Common questions about AQ-Z Wb

Is AQ-Z Wb supplied in colour or only white?

Both. It is a water base ready-mix film coat supplied white or in the shade agreed against your reference sample. The process is identical either way.

What limits the run on a small pan?

Spray rate. On a 12 inch conventional pan the charge is 0.5 to 1 kg and the pan turns at 18 to 20 rpm, so how fast you can spray without wetting the bed is the constraint. On a 36 or 48 inch auto coater the charge is large and pan speed drops, so inlet temperature and air volume carry the drying instead.
