UZ1
Universal film coat
One grade that runs on either an aqueous or a solvent process.
Application
Universal film coat material for units that run mixed processes and want to hold a single grade in stores. It can be dispersed in water or in solvent, so the same code covers both product lines.
How it runs
Confirm which route you are running before dispersion, because the two use different temperature bands. Once the dispersion is made, everything downstream is unchanged. Holding one universal grade rather than two cuts the number of codes in stores, which is the reason most units pick it.
Build-up and solids are fixed at trial.

Common questions about UZ1
Can one grade really run on both an aqueous and a solvent process?
Yes. UZ1 can be dispersed in water or in solvent, so the same code covers both product lines. Units that run mixed processes hold one grade in stores instead of two.
What has to be decided before dispersion?
Which route you are running, because the two use different temperature bands. Once the dispersion is made everything downstream is unchanged.
