PA-Wt10

Extra white film coat for plain Amoxycillin

Solvent base extra white film for plain Amoxycillin and dissolution critical tablets.

Application

Solvent base extra white film coat for plain Amoxycillin tablets and other products where dissolution has to be protected while the core is covered to a high opacity.

Formulated for

  • Amoxycillin

How it runs

Runs on the non-aqueous band. Dissolution rather than appearance is the constraint on these cores, so check dissolution at the end of the run and not only cover and gloss.

Build-up and solids are fixed at trial.

The polymer

Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)

PVA films are less permeable to water vapour than HPMC at the same thickness, which is what makes a moisture barrier a barrier. Our moisture barrier grades are fully formulated HPMC and PVA based immediate release systems, so the protection does not come at the cost of release.

Part of the Moisture Barrier Coating range.

The barrier film is doing stability work, not cosmetic work. It slows water vapour reaching a core that would otherwise degrade in the pack.

Common questions about PA-Wt10

How does PA-Wt10 differ from CVS-101?

PA-Wt10 is for plain Amoxycillin and other dissolution critical tablets. CVS-101 is built for the Amoxycillin and Clavulanate combination, which carries a harder moisture problem.

What should be checked at the end of a run?

Dissolution, not only cover and gloss. On these cores dissolution is the constraint, so a batch that looks right can still fail the specification.
